Game Types and Explanation
VRC Over Under 2023-2024
VRC Spin Up 2022-2023
Teams are tasked with launching rings into a high goal to score rings, rings that are scored in the high goal are worth 5 points. However if you miss the high goal and the disk falls into the area under the goal, that disk is worth 1 point for the opposing alliance. Teams are also tasked with turning rollers at each end of the field, each owned roller is worth 10 points for the colored alliance. In the last 15 seconds (endgame) there are no expansion limits, each tile that the team’s robot touch will award the alliance with 3 points.
Teams are tasked with scoring a tribal into their alliance colored goal. Each tribal scored in the alliance’s goal will count as 5 points, each tribal outside of the goal on the alliance’s side is worth 2 points. Each alliance is given 22 match-loads and must score the tribal into the goal on the opposite side. However, each team is only allowed one tribal in their possession at one time. Teams are allowed to plow triballs while holding triball. In the last 30 seconds (endgame) teams are allowed to elevate using the colored pipes on each side of the field, called elevation bars. Each robots height off the ground will be measured to determine the elevation tier.
VRC High Stakes 2024-2025
Teams are tasked with scoring rings onto a mobile goal (stakes). Each ring is worth 1 point unless the ring is the highest ring on the mobile goal which is worth 3 points. There are 2 wall stakes and 2 alliance stakes. There is one stake on top of the ladder which can only hold one ring (worth 3 points). However in the four corners there are 2 positive and 2 negative corners. Positive corners double the ring’s points on the mobile goal while negative corners, negative corners change the ring’s values to negative. Robots are only allowed to possess one mobile goal and 2 rings. In the last 30 seconds positive corners are protected and robots are allowed to climb the ladder. Each level on the ladder is doubled (Ie: Level 1 is 3 points, Level 2 is 6, Level 3 is 12, & Level 4 is worth 24 points)

Autonomous Skills 2nd attempt @ States
Our Kicker for skills took around 240-500 hours of tuning as the hitting angle all the way to the rubber band tension had to be tuned. This is for the tri-ball distribution around the goal. I spent about 20-40 hours a week for 3 months tuning this mechanism to win states. I spent a total of 430 hours from the December 2023-March 2024.
Rubber-band tension: 16.7 LBS
Angle: 19 degrees
RPM: 25 RPM
B-tier elevation
Autonomous Skills 1st attempt @ Worlds
We had to match load from the ground to the elevated field, which made it significantly harder as we ran a faster RPM. As well as the field acting like a trampoline due to the elevated field.
Rubber-band tension: 17.3 LBS
Angle: 26 degrees
RPM: 33 RPM
