About me

Hi,
My name is Gavin Taan, and I am a Junior at Valley Christian High School with a passion for technical theater. I am currently in Technical Theater 4 Honors and have been in the class since 7th grade. I never would have thought that I would expand my love for technical theater from an actor perspective. From starting in Drama 1 just because I did theater before all the way to Technical Theater 4 Honors.

Over the years, I have expanded my skills as a technician, learning the history, functions, and types of stage lighting and design. My love for theater began way back in third grade when I was introduced to the art of theater at my cousin’s show The Little Mermaid. I then took that love and made it a reality by auditioning for my first show, The Wizard of Oz. From 2016-2023, I have performed in numerous plays and musicals playing different roles and characters. However, I have always been interested in the intricate details of stage lighting, set design, and running behind the scenes that bring the show to life.

In addition to working as a theater technicians, I am pursuing a wide range of interests, such as aerospace engineering, business management, and flying. While I do not plan to work as a theater technician full time, I intend to continue working with stage lighting for small companies in my free time. Allowing me to stay connected with my love for technical theater, while also pursuing my other professional aspirations.
